Sunflower Event COMING IN AUGUST

Our annual Sunflower Celebration is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome you to the farm for one of the most joyful weekends of the season. During peak bloom, our sunflower fields transform into acres of vibrant color; not just classic golden sunflowers, but a stunning mix of reds, bronzes, whites, deep oranges, and bi‑colored varieties that make the experience truly unique.
Guests are invited to stroll the fields at their own pace and take home fresh‑cut sunflowers. We’ll also have designated photo spots and plenty of space to soak in the beauty of the summer and welcome the start of Autumn.

About our Flowers & Products

What types of flowers do you offer?

We offer a seasonal selection of fresh-cut flowers, along with flower bulbs and garlic seeds. Our offerings change throughout the year based on what’s growing and what is the freshest.

Are your flowers locally grown?

Yes! We grow most of our flowers on our family-owned farm in Montrose, Colorado, where we focus on cultivating healthy, vibrant blooms with care. We also partner with trusted growers within our region to ensure the same level of freshness and quality; for varieties we don’t grow ourselves.

Do you offer custom bouquets or arrangements?

Yes! Seasonally, our offerings change throughout the year based on what’s growing and what is the freshest. Email us for upcoming details.

How long do fresh-cut flowers last?

Most fresh-cut flowers last 5-10 days with proper care. We include care instructions with every purchase to help you enjoy them as long as possible.

How do I care for my flowers?

Tulips: Cut about 1" off the stems (or desired length) while keeping the tulips in their plastic sleeve, and place in cold water for about 5-6 hours. Keeping the tulips wrapped helps them to stand straight and tall while they drink the water. Once you remove the wrapping, arrange flowers in a clean vase with fresh, cool water. Please allow 1-2 days to fully open.

Daffodils: Cut about 1" off the stems (or desired length) and place in cold water. You will need to condition daffodils by themselves for about 6 hours. When cut, the stems of daffodils secrete a sap, which can clog the stems of other flowers. After the solitary conditioning, they may be mixed in with other flowers. Arrange in a clean vase and add water frequently. Please allow 1-3 days to be fully open.

Iris: For best results, your iris will last 3–7 days with proper care. Upon receiving them, recut the stems 1–2 inches at a slant, remove any leaves that will sit below the water line, and place them in a clean vase with fresh water and flower food (or substitute with 1 tsp sugar plus a few drops of bleach per quart of water). Keep the arrangement in a cool spot away from direct sunlight, heat sources, drafts, and fruit. Change the water every 1–2 days, recut the stems slightly each time, and remove wilted blooms promptly. Tip: Iris buds open quickly once in the vase; enjoy the beautiful show!

Sunflowers: To keep your vibrant sunflowers blooming beautifully, start by stripping any leaves that will sit below the waterline, as submerged foliage fosters bacteria. Next, use sharp shears to cut at least a half inch off the stems at a 45-degree angle, and place them immediately into room temperature water mixed with flower food. Because sunflowers are heavy drinkers and naturally release debris, maximize their vase life by rinsing the vase and changing the water every two days, making sure to recut the stems each time. For the longest-lasting display, place your bouquet in a cool location away from direct sunlight, drafty vents, and ripening fruit.

Can I preorder flowers for a specific date?

Generally, yes. Our flowers are shipped out for overnight delivery, so Sundays are not optional at this time.

What flowers are available throughout the year?

Here is a guideline to when our fresh flowers are available:

About Our Bulbs

What types of bulbs do you offer?

We offer a curated selection of flower bulbs and garlic seed, chosen for their beauty, reliability, and performance in Colorado’s climate. Availability varies seasonally, so check back often for new varieties.

What actually is a bulb?

A bulb is a self-contained plant starter that holds everything a future flower needs to grow. Inside each bulb is a tiny baby plant surrounded by layers of stored nutrients; like a natural battery; that help it sprout, grow roots, and bloom when the season is right. Bulbs are planted in soil, rest quietly underground, and then burst into growth when conditions warm up.

Are your bulbs grown on your farm?

Yes. All of our bulbs are grown right here on our family-owned farm in Montrose, Colorado, where we focus on healthy, high-quality stock.

When is the best time to plant bulbs?

  • Fall-planting bulbs (like tulips, daffodils, garlic) should be planted once soil temperatures cool. Typically, September through November in Colorado.
  • Spring-planting bulbs (like dahlias or gladiolus) should be planted after the danger of frost has passed. Usually, from late May to early June in our region.

How deep should I plant bulbs?

This depends on the look you want:

  • Natural look: 5-10 bulbs per square foot
  • Full, lush display: 10-20 bulbs per square foot
  • Garlic: 4-6 inches apart in rows spaced 12 inches apart

Will bulbs come back every year?

Many bulbs are perennial, meaning they return year after year. Some varieties behave more like annuals in high-altitude climates. We note this on each product page, so you know what to expect.

Can I plant bulbs in containers?

Yes! Many bulbs thrive in containers. Choose a pot with good drainage and follow the same planting depth guidelines. Containers may need extra winter protection in cold climates.

About Our Garlic Seed

What varieties of garlic do you offer?

We offer both hardneck and softneck garlic varieties. Hardneck garlic grows especially well in colder climates like ours in Montrose, Colorado and produces beautiful scapes in early summer. Softneck garlic is known for its long storage life and classic flavor. Both types are selected for their quality, vigor, and reliability in home gardens.

When should I plant garlic?

Garlic is planted in the fall, usually September through October, so it can establish roots before winter.

How do I store garlic seed before planting?

Keep garlic seed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Avoid refrigeration, which can cause premature sprouting.

Yes. We ship bulbs and garlic seed throughout the United States. Shipping times may vary based on seasonal availability.

What are your shipping costs?

How should I store bulbs before planting them?

Store bulbs in a cool, dark, dry place with good airflow. Avoid sealed plastic bags, which can trap moisture and cause rot.

How long do bulbs last in storage?

Most bulbs can be stored for several weeks to a few months, depending on the variety. Plant as soon as possible for best results.

What is the best way to store my bulbs if I dig them every year?

The best way to store dug up bulbs is to keep them cool, dry, and well-ventilated so they can rest safely until planting time. After digging, gently brush off excess soil (don’t wash them), then let the bulbs cure in a shaded, airy spot for about a week. Once dry, place them in a breathable container; like a mesh bag, paper bag, or shallow box with peat moss, wood shavings, or newspaper. Store them in a location that stays around 40–55°F, such as a basement, garage, or cellar. Check them occasionally and remove any signs of mold or softness to keep the rest healthy.

Troubleshooting

What should I do if my bulbs don’t sprout?

A few common causes include:

  • Planting too shallow or too deep
  • Overwatering or poor drainage
  • Rodents or pests
  • Bulbs stored too long before planting

What if my bulbs arrive damaged?

If anything arrives in less-than-perfect condition, contact us within 48 hours with a photo. We will do our best to make it right.

Porch Decorating FAQ

What materials are your porch decorations made from?

Our porch displays are created using natural, farm-fresh materials chosen for their texture, warmth, and seasonal charm.

Are your porch items weather-resistant?

Yes. Most of your porch decor is designed to withstand sun, wind, and light moisture. For extreme weather conditions, we recommend placing items in covered or partially sheltered areas to extend their lifespan.

How long does installation take?

Most residential installations take 45-75 minutes. We work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

How far in advance should I book?

For fall installations, we recommend reserving in late July early August so you can choose from our most desirable September and October dates.

Do you offer payment plans?

We accept cash and credit cards. Payment is due upon booking.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Montrose County and most areas on the Western Slope. Contact us for pricing to your doorstep.

Do you provide all the decor, or do I supply pieces?

Every package includes the full design without any props needed to finish the look. You don’t source, store, or stage anything. If you own meaningful pieces, heirloom planters, favorite wreath; you may incorporate them into your design once we are done.

Can I use my own decor?

Absolutely. Once we are done placing our pieces, anything you would like to add may certainly come out. We ask that you remove your pieces before your scheduled removal so that they are not taken by accident.

Do you offer takedowns?

Takedown is included in most seasonal packages. We return at the end of the season to remove the display, so you never have to wrestle with it; perishable items like pumpkins and shocks are composted or recycled at takedown.

Do you decorate commercial properties?

Yes. We style storefronts, boutique entries, salons, restaurants, hotels, offices, real estate offices, and event ventures across our serve areas.

What if there’s bad weather on install day?

Light rain doesn’t stop us; our materials are weather-selected. For severe wind, ice, or storms, we'll reschedule to the next available day on the calendar.

Which package should I choose?

If you have a standard front entry and want a polished seasonal moment, our Doorstep welcome package is usually right. Homes with double doors, large columns, wide porches, or extra plantings tend to fit better in our mid or signature tiers. Not sure? Send us a photo of your entry and we will recommend the best fit.
